Cartes Postales

Boxes In The Studio, 1990-Present

Programming Note: During my years as an art student, I collected postcards. These were mainly gathered from visits to art galleries, but also gigs, bars and bands’ mailing lists I’d subscribed to. For years these lived in dusty cardboard boxes, but always came with me on my travels as I relocated to various apartments around the world after college. Some of these have strong memories associated with them, especially the ones from Holland, and I can most likely recite stories about each and every one of them.

Even now when I visit an art museum I always spend a lot of time with the postcard rack. I just love the format, and miss the thrill of receiving a postcard from a friend’s travels around the world. In a moment of madness / boredom / weakness I decided to spend an afternoon scanning all of these postcards in and making a web page out of them. Not to remember them later, but to remember them now.
