Lovingly Made In New York

The Corcoran Group and Foursquare
CUNY Graduate School of Journalism, New York, September 21, 2011

I spoke on numerous occasions about Corcoran’s work on the Foursquare platform between 2010 and 2012, the most notable being The Business Development Institute’s event at the CUNY Graduate School of Journalism in New York. The presentation took the audience through how our work connected Corcoran’s brand to the then nascent location-based technology rapidly gaining adoption through Foursquare. Wildly popular in New York, our partnership with Foursquare was a tremendous amount of fun, and allowed us to stretch and expand the digital brand in some fascinating (and highly effective) ways. Sadly, Corcoran’s presence on Foursquare ended with my moving on to The New York Times.

Programming Note: My presentation starts at 33.25

Back in 2009, Foursquare invented the check-in. Today, those 13+ billion check-ins are the foundation of their powerful, proprietary Pilgrim technology that helps make sense of where phones go for the more than 150,000 partners who have registered to use their developer tools, including Uber, Tencent, Apple, Samsung, and Twitter.
